In the TI's collection of articles in Urban Infrastructure, we seek to prosecute the case for human-centred public spaces. Through data-driven research on zoning laws, transportation systems, and other elements pertinent to the compatibility of humans with the places we inhabit, the TI looks to demonstrate the importance of forethought, sensibility, and empathy in urban design.

               Art Spotlight - Urban Infrastructure

With its appreciation for the physical details and perspective of the urban Parisian environment, Claude Monet's Garden of the Princess, painted around the year 1867, shows us the artist's eye, as trained on the study of the beauty of the cityscape, as opposed to his later focus on the experience of light. It invites us to reflect on what makes a good city, and gently suggests that the answer might not only be function, but also form.
